The kanji character “闘” （tou）embodies the act of fighting with all one’s strength, confronting difficulties, and the strong will to face oneself. The traditional form of the character, “鬪,” is said to originate from a pictographic character depicting two people facing each other in fierce combat. Throughout Japanese history, samurai battles, sumo wrestling, and martial arts have been cultivated not merely as contests of victory or defeat, but as a culture that values mental fortitude and etiquette. In this work, I sought to express the fighting spirit hidden within and the power concentrated in a single moment. I hope you will sense the energy of moving forward without yielding to adversity through the dynamic brushstrokes and bold use of ink.
