■作品解説 2009年制作。アクリルを用い、F80号（112×145.5cm）のキャンバスに描かれた力強い抽象作品です。 本作の最大の見どころは、燃え上がるような「赤」と、静謐な「青」が織りなす圧倒的な色彩の対比です。緻密に描き込まれた無数の点と線は、細胞の増殖や星々の誕生を想起させ、画面全体から脈動するような生命力が伝わってきます。甲斐氏の「宇宙論」シリーズの中でも、特に情熱的なエネルギーに満ちた一点です。
■作家略歴：伝説と静寂の軌跡 1964年、世界初のボディペインティングを発表し、米「LIFE」誌で特集されるなど世界的な注目を集めた前衛芸術の旗手。銀座での逮捕騒動やサンパウロ大学近代美術館への収蔵など、サイケデリック・アートの頂点を極めた後、故郷・大分にて作風は「曼荼羅」へと昇華。2011年には中国・密教総本山「大興善寺」へ3m四方の大作を奉納し、その様子はNHKでも放映されました。

Created in 2009, this F80-size large canvas (112 x 145.5 cm) is a breathtaking example of Kai's "Cosmology - Mandala" series. The work is characterized by a powerful contrast between fiery reds and serene blues.
■About the Artist: Tetsuyoshi Kai A legendary figure of the 1960s Japanese avant-garde. In 1964, he became the world's pioneer of Body Painting and was featured in New York's "LIFE" magazine. His works are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art, University of São Paulo. After decades of radical expression, his art evolved into the spiritual "Mandala." In 2011, he dedicated a monumental work to the Daxingshan Temple (the birthplace of Esoteric Buddhism) in Xi'an, China.
