大正時代の創業より着物や帯に刺繍してきた"蝶"(てふてふ)の文様です。
手縫いで刺繍した後、裁断してフレームに額装した作品になります。
日本刺繡や家紋として"蝶"は伝統的な文様になりますが、今作はあえて大胆な配色にしてモダンアート風に仕上げてみました。
蝶の翅の色に古代色(紫色)を用いたことで、艶やかな仕上がりとなりました。
また艶のある絹糸を使用しているので、光の当たり具合によって光沢ある翅が様々な表情を覗かせてくれます。
シックで落ち着いた黒のフレームに額装しているので和室はもちろん、洋室に飾ってもお部屋の雰囲気に馴染むかと思います。
かつて中国宋時代の思想家である荘子はある時、"胡蝶の夢"を見たことで現実と虚構の差異が儚いものであるという"万物斉同"の境地に至ったという逸話があります。
今作はそんな荘子の抱いた"万物の儚さ"に思いを馳せながら作品を刺繍いたしました。

This work was embroidered with thoughts of the "transience of all things" that Zhuangzi had in mind.
