This is a green-glazed Raku lid rest featuring openwork ("Sukashi"). In the Japanese tea ceremony, a lid rest ("Futaoki") is a traditional utensil used to hold the lid of a tea kettle, iron kettle, or clay pot, as well as the bamboo ladle.
Its exquisite design also makes it beautifully suited to be displayed as a decorative ornament or figurine.
During the firing process using charcoal or firewood, the piece may develop natural color variations, ash deposits, or scorch marks. Please appreciate these unique characteristics as part of the piece's individual personality and artistic landscape.
