A Japanese calligraphy piece with an old poem.
The poem reads: We met for the first time in a long time, and before we could really confirm that we were together, you left. Just like the moon appears and then disappears into the clouds.
This poem was written by Murasaki Shikibu at the end of the 10th century. She was from a middle-class aristocratic family, served the empress of the time, and is known for writing The Tale of Genji, an epic love story set in the imperial court.
Proceeds will be used to run a private school for children where I teach Japanese calligraphy and mathematics.
