This is the Saiho series of gamaguchi (clasp-style) jewelry pouches.
Made with classic Sakura-gasumi(Cherry blossom haze) Kinran pattern fabric, it has an elegant and timeless look. Despite its compact size, it’s perfect for carrying small accessories such as necklaces, earrings, piercings, rings, charms, and small brooches with ease.
金襴 (Kinran) fabric is a high-quality textile woven with gold, silver, and gold foil threads to create elaborate patterns. It originated in China and developed further in Kyoto's Nishijin district from the Muromachi period onward. Characterized by its golden shine and three-dimensional texture, it is used in Noh costumes, Buddhist altar fittings, doll costumes for the Hina Festival, and as mounting material for hanging scrolls. Today, Kinran fabric is widely appreciated for use in traditional Japanese clothing and interior decoration, maintaining its status as a luxurious and culturally significant textile.
The gamaguchi design allows for quick one-touch opening and closing, and the wide opening makes it easy to see and access what’s inside. Inside the opening, there is a built-in gusset, which helps prevent items from falling out even when the pouch is fully open, providing extra peace of mind when carrying it around. The gusset also acts as a cushion, making it less likely for your accessories to get caught in the metal clasp.

The name Saiho (彩包) was chosen to express the idea of a pouch that gently wraps and protects your colorful accessories.
The idea for this series came from my own everyday experience.
I used to carry a necklace in a slim gamaguchi pouch without a gusset, but I often encountered small inconveniences: the chain slipped out through a tiny gap, it almost got caught in the clasp, or it felt like it might fall out when I opened the pouch wide.
Since I’ve always loved the classic shape of a gamaguchi, I wanted to solve those frustrations and create something that allows accessories to be carried safely and comfortably. Adding an inner gusset was the key - it solves those problems and makes the pouch much more practical and secure.
I hope this little pouch will gently protect your favorite accessories and add a touch of charm to your everyday life.
