多くの人にとっては、漢字そのものが持つ意味こそが重要だと考えると思いますが、僕はどんな漢字でも、たとえそれが嫌な漢字や、無意味に思える漢字でも、その漢字が持つニュアンスを線で表現することで、意味を超えた、漢字そのものの美しさを表現する「線のアート」としての作品をつくっています。
For many people, the meaning of a kanji itself is what matters most.
But for me, no matter what the character is—even if it’s a kanji with an unpleasant meaning or one that seems meaningless—I try to express its nuance through the lines. In doing so, I create works that go beyond meaning, capturing the inherent beauty of the kanji itself as “art through lines.”
