作品説明

Bring a touch of deep-sea chemistry with you wherever you go! Did you know that Phyllidia varicosa, a striking species of nudibranch (sea slug), produces a defense toxin derived entirely from its diet? It feeds on marine sponges (Hymeniacidon) and repurposes their unique bioactive compounds to ward off predators. One of these fascinating chemical scaffold is pupukeanane—named after Pupukea (meaning white shell) on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. In a landmark 1975 study led by Professor Paul J. Scheuer at the University of Hawaii, researchers observed this nudibranch feeding during a dive at Pupukea, isolated the sponge's compound, and determined its unprecedented sesquiterpene structure using X-ray crystallography (the first pupukeanane they determine the structure is 9-isocyanopupukeanane). Also as a scientist, I was captivated by both the beauty of this nudibranch and the elegant structure of its chemical shield. Inspired by this natural gem, I combined both the image of Phyllidia varicosa and its iconic molecule to create this unique plastic plate charm. Whether you're a marine biology enthusiast, a chemistry lover, or simply someone who appreciates unique, story-filled accessories, this charm is for you! Attach it to your bag, backpack, pouch, or key ring to share a piece of ocean science with the world. <Product Specifications> 1. Materials: Inkjet-printed polystylene plate with protective coating (Waterproof & UV-resistant finish) 2. Hardware / Metal Parts: die-cast metal alloy (not nickel-free) 3. Weight: Approx. 5.6 g (total) 4. Dimensions: 3.0 cm × 4.0 cm (plate size) <Care & Purchasing Notes> 1. Please avoid prolonged exposure to harsh environmental conditions, extreme heat, or prolonged direct sunlight to maintain its quality over time. 2. Photo props (such as seashells and display items) shown in the product photos are not included. 3. Feel free to contact me in English anytime via the Minne messaging system!
