Kubiko: Kuchisake Girl Keychain

Meet Kuchisake-chan, the middle sister of the three Kubiko sisters. With her wide slit mouth and large staring eyes, she is a little eerie yet strangely endearing. Attach her to your keys, bag, or backpack and take her with you as your own tiny creepy-cute companion. She is inspired by Kuchisake-onna, the slit-mouthed woman of Japanese urban legend. This frightening figure has been reimagined as a small Kubiko-chan companion that you can carry with you every day. Each piece is created using a commercially made doll head as its base. The face is individually hand-painted with acrylic paint and finished with a protective topcoat. Kubiko-chan is an original character series created by artist Hiderou Saeba. The pieces currently available are the second-generation version, with revised details and finishing. As each piece is painted by hand, slight variations in expression and color make every one unique. Each piece takes approximately two to three days to complete, including hand-painting, drying, applying the protective topcoat, modifying the top of the head, and attaching the keychain hardware.
